TV Life

I watch quite a lot of movies until some of my friends think I am a movie freak (I don't think I am actually). But when they know that I don't subscribe to Astro Movie Package, they are quite surprised.

Usually I don't check TV guide when I watch TV. I like to keep changing the channel until I found a programme I want to watch. So it is quite difficult for me to stick to the movie channel when I watch movie. Not only that I don't subscribe to movie package, I also don't have Wah Lai Toi. Otherwise my life will to be controlled by Astro programmes, I don't want that. I prefer to watch DVD when I am free and in the mood to watch it.

How about you? Are you controlled or in control?

I love watching movies! good thing that I have cable TV so the movies are mostly re-play. I just need to choose which time is suitable for me then for movies in the cinema, still can get the DVDs :)

Astro should introduce a PPV system with a large catalogue of old and new movies. That will be the best as you can watch what you like when you like without having to pay extra. The next best would be to add more movie channels. Three English movie channels are not enough.

I'm also quite sick of watching reruns already. WLT is the worse. During Chinese New Year they always have these HK programs which features zodiac animals of last year since everything in WLT is one year older! So buang karan to watch those and suddenly this non-related animal (man in suit lah!) just jump out acting like it's really 'his' year. That is why my house don't have WLT... better go buy our lanun DVDs.

Another grouse I have with Astro now is the Kirana channel. Sometimes it has some interesting Japanese or Korean movies, but subtitles are available in Malay only. Apalah... some people cannot read Malay mah.

And err.. to answer KW.. I think maybe being controlled lah. Depends on the attraction of the alternative activities also lah. If go out with frens, esp leng luis, then to hell with Astro.

I still remember my mama's words when I was schooling, "If this very second, you don't switch off the TV, I'm gonna smash this TV into pieces!!!" hands holding a hammer. (Sometimes, I really wished that she'll smash it...coz then we might get a new TV...my TV at that time does not have a remote control...so my siblings and I will either have to sit very near to the TV or use our leg to change channels...coz obviously legs are longer than hands...my bro, who claims that he's brighter, will use my mama's cane...but it'll take him a long long time to aim at the correct button and then it takes some time for him to push the button coz the cane bends!)

Anyway, back to the topic.....my life was being controlled by TV when i was young, until I went to uni. Then, my interest in TV shows became lesser and lesser. I'm back in Malaysia for more than a year already, and I still have not cultivated my interest in TV back.

I have lots of DVDs too...but I seldom watch them too..they're all in a pile, covered in dust now.So, now I only watch movies that are recommended by someone.

girl next door: what titles you have, i can help you to watch some and let you know which is good...

selba: I think you are still being controlled as long as you have to follow the TV's time table, even if it is a replay. Unless it is video on demand...

couchpotato: Got subtitle still ok. Some Japanese movies don't even have any subtitle...stupid

Ko: I seldom have movies stocked up. If there is any, they must be movies that I am not interested.
